For those who are hurting, sad, angry, depressed, lonely and just fed-up with this who mess that is so stressful, God bless each one of you!

I am not on as my temper is in the red zone and too many are too sensitive at this time and my words seem to trigger many to outbursts. I do not want to add to anyone's stress, hurt, anger, depression, paranoia, or anything else at all.

Goofy for God, I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved mother!

Joinca, your grief will ease in time and I am sorry you are going through this. And patience for your goofy brother

Ms Mc, honey, I feel your pain and wish you peace and strength!

Simple27, continued prayers for you, as always

IM, prayers for peace and strength that your family will pull through unscathed.

Luis, that your family also makes it safely

If I missed anyone, know that a prayer has been said for all.
God bless each and all on this thread. Keep them in your arms, with your protection, strength, peace of mind and above all, your LOVE

My aunt, the oldest sister of my mother is suspected to have covid-19. Yesterday she got to the hospital with fever...
 Quoting: Luisport

Sorry to hear this Luis. Hopefully she will be alright. My utmost positive thoughts and prayers to her, your mom and you and the family. hf

So many sad and worrisome stories getting so close to home. My sister in law tested positive with it yesterday as well after feeling really sick. She is a nurse in a nursing home and had worked intensively with a colleague that was also diagnosed with it. She even had to drive 20 miles to get tested.

So her, my brother and their son have to stay at home and hopefully things don't get worse. My brother has a heart condition, so that's an extra worry. Next to that, there is an infection on the floor in the nursing home where my other brother is. They are now grounded in their own room and can not even walk around anymore.

What baffles and angers me is the fact that there is such a lack of protective gear in the nursing homes here. No masks, no gowns, nothing. And they even keep saying that it hardly has any use to use that. What the fuck! The government is trying to use that as an excuse to cover up their bureaucracy and way too late reaction, like in many other countries.

And in the meantime everyone is focusing on the reopening of the economy. Choosing livelihood over lives. Even though I understand that we need to find balance and see opportunities where they are, we need to watch out for creating false hope and optimism. Once this gets in the heads of people, with summer coming, we might end up in a situation that is even more uncontrollable and causing more heartache and loss than we experienced already.

And that does not mean that we need to just bend over and accept everything that is fed to us, but to use our own sane minds. This is far from over and tomorrow it can be your family that is at risk or grieving loss.

Let's hope that does not happen and therefore go from own judgement instead of following a crowd that screams that this is all a hoax or are yelling for evidence. Would you also have the courage to hold up a sign like that at a realtime funeral with a family that has lost their loved one to this? I think not.

To those I would like to say, that to many it has become as real as it gets. So show some respect and let the ones that grieve about their lost loved ones grieve. That for sure is not too much to ask, is it?

Sorry for the long two cents. I just had to say out loud what is on my mind already for a while.

Much love to all of you. hf
 Quoting: InterMezzo

Oh no!!!! Your family, too!!! I am so sorry to hear!!!! Our world has changed so much in such a short time... and so much pain. We have always lost loved ones, it's the natural progression of life. But it just seems so jagged and painful because of the physical separation from our loved ones. My prayers for your family. Hugs and loe from W Texas!

Papa has been cremated. By choice of Nanny. She didn't want him buried prior to the family being able to honor him properly. His ashes will be placed in a beautiful navy blue urn which will eventually be buried, with our family present at the burial site. Who knows when exactly that will be. :(

xoxo
 Quoting: Simple27

Continued prayers to you and your family Simple.
As you know that my Dad passed away a few weeks ago on March 26 and every day is painful about his loss.
My brother and his wife stopped by briefly last night and he likes to look in the cabinets in our Dads house. It is like he has never seen a pantry with food in it or cabinets in the bathroom with towels. For me this is a very annoying habit that he has for now. He has not been a major visitor for my Dad in the last years and the same for my Mom. This has been very frustrating to say the least.

hf
 Quoting: joinca

You are still in my prayers for your loss. I quite understand the feeling of loss. I also understand about your brother. I have one that has made life miserable for my othre siblings since Mom passed. My sister finally told him to straighten up, that if Mom had had her way before she died, she'd have included the statement in her will that if anyone caused problems about the probate of the will they would lose their part of the inheritance. He's been pretty quiet since then. He didn't get along with Dad or Mom while they were alive. Family can surely be difficult.

Hang in there. As was said earlier, your sweet memories of your dad and the passage of time will ease the pain of the loss. Won't lie and say it ever goes away. It just gets easier to live with.

LYRID METEOR ALERT: The first significant meteor shower in months is about to begin. The annual Lyrid meteor shower peaks on the night of April 21-22 when Earth passes through a stream of debris from Comet Thatcher (C/1861 G1). These meteors are best seen from the northern hemisphere where the radiant is high in the sky before dawn:

STARLINK SATELITES PHOTOGRAPHED FROM THE ISS: For the first time, SpaceX's controversial Starlink satellites have been photographed by astronauts onboard the International Space Station.

Here they are, photobombing a display of aurora australis on April 13, 2020: [link to spaceweather.com (secure)]

The ISS was flying over the southern Indian Ocean when the sighting occurred with cameras pointing generally south toward Antarctica. At the time, a minor stream of solar wind was buffeting Earth's magnetic field, sparking auroras over the frozen continent. The Starlink train stretches all the way from the twilight-blue horizon to the starry sky high above the aurora layer.

Dutch satellite expert Marco Langbroek identified the Starlink satellites and labeled the original NASA image. "These are all objects from the 17 February 2020 launch--- a.k.a. 'Starlink 4,'" Langbroek wrote in his blog.

Starlink is a new venture by SpaceX, which aims to surround Earth with satellites and beam affordable internet to remote locations all over the world. It is controversial because of its potential effect on the night sky. Just after launch, Starlink satellites easily can be seen with the unaided eye, swarming across stars and planets familiar to backyard astronomers.

Scott Tucker of Tucson, Arizona, was photographing Venus on the evening of April 17th when this happened: [link to spaceweathergallery.com (secure)]

"I watched 41 Starlink satellites from the most recent launch pass by Venus during late twilight," says Tucker. "One of them even flared like an Iridium satellite! It got to magnitude -2 for a few seconds."

Newly-launched Starlink satellites eventually dim as they approach operational orbits 550 km above Earth--but even then they can interfere with research astronomy. Big telescopes have no trouble detecting Starlink satellites no matter how high they go. The fact that SpaceX plans to launch at least 12,000 of them has prompted the International Astronomical Union to sound the alarm.

So far, there are 360 Starlinks into Earth orbit, a tiny fraction of the ultimate total, yet still a large number. Accidental sightings have become so common that we now have an entire photo gallery of Starlink sightings. Browse the collection and see what you think.
