My new neighbor caught some wild striped bass over the weekend. He gave us a 3 pound fish today. These are expensive to buy!

Truth is we don't really eat fish, but this is a very versatile fish and can be prepared several ways. I'm definitely willing to try it. I thought it was real nice of him to give us one. I like the new neighbors. They're family people. Good folks.

I do miss Steve though.

Not too fond of fish myself but you gotta try after that goodwill gesture.

hugs over missing your friend!
 Quoting: WhiteAngel

Thank you for the hugs

I'm willing to try (almost) anything at least once. Mini is so not trying to hear this lol. She's practically gagging from seeing it in the sink.
 Quoting: Simple27

I love fish but I will not eat a fish that's whole. It's too freaky and I'm paranoid of fish bones. Are you trying to cook that thing tonight? Hopefully Nef knows what to do with it.

Tell your neighbor to haul in some lobsters and crab legs next time! lol
 Quoting: KickinIt

Definitely not trying to eat it tonight. Will likely freeze it. And yes, hopefully he knows what to do with it. I sure don't lol.

I might see if either of my sisters would be interested in it. I think I'm the only one in this house who would be willing to try it. :\

We shall see.

Nef made homemade smoked sausage about a week or so ago, and gave the neighbor some. It's a nice sharing experience taking place. Steve wasn't much of a cook. He ate out a lot. So this is different, in a nice way.

There have been a handful of quakes off the coast of NW Aus. this year. There was a fairly big one in January (5.7). Below is a list of quakes in that area since January, and also a map of them on the 2nd page.

minced carrot and green pepper with some butter and breadcrumbs to make a stuffing texture, roll the fish around it, secure with toothpicks or truss tie metal stabby things.(lol) It's really good, and lets you keep the flavor of the fish, but have something nice with it without hiding it in a tartar.

I use the Italian bread crumbs instead of a stuffing mix, and I also leave out the lemon. lol

May as well do that before you freeze it, as it's always best if you can eat if fresh (which is a bit of a delicacy here, although where you are probably not as much).

Yes, a whole fish! He has a boat and fishes often. They seem to do Sunday family gatherings. He smokes his fish on his grill.

Too bad you live on a different continent or you could bring it over and I would fillet it for you. I've so many ideas running through my head, steam it, poach it, wrap it in foil with lemon and bake it. Yum, I'm starting to salivate. Avoid freezing it if you can, fresh is always best ever.

Enjoy that beautiful fish, it gave its life to feed and sustain you.
